The waste industry is changing – the transition from linear to circular economy is underway, and Zero Waste is becoming the destination. But do you have the right skills to get there?

With some UK authorities planning for 80% recycling, Circular Economy ideas taking hold, and new legislation in EPR and DRS due (despite the temporary glitches) placing new responsibilities on producers, Zero Waste is becoming the destination. But do you have the right skills to get there?

In this webinar, Stuart Henshaw will discuss with Katie Cockburn and Sarahjane Widdowson how you can plan for a Zero Waste Career. CIWM has been mapping out what a Zero Waste industry might look like in the future and monitoring the skills that will likely be required in the future.

This Webinar is for anyone in the Waste & Resource Management industry thinking about your future career development. You will gain an insight into what new skills will be required and hear from two of the leading thinkers in the field.

Katie Cockburn is Professional Services Director at the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and is leading CIWM’s research project to identify the skills needed for a Net Zero transition, which will contribute to UK government plans. Work already underway is a skills matrix and a programme of programme of training, mentoring and development opportunities.

Sarahjane Widdowson is Director with sustainability consultancy Intelisos and one of the authors of the CIWM report ‘Skills for the Future’ which outlined how businesses and organisations in the resource and waste sector will need to prepare for Zero Waste & the Circular Economy.

Stuart Henshaw is Business Development Director at Integrated Skills and has spent 15 years managing local government waste and environmental services. He leads Integrated Skills free webinar programme which for three years has tackled many topics that can all be found on the Integrated Skills website archive. Stuart is also a CIWM NE Centre Councillor.
