ISL Present Route Optimisation Paper at Welsh “Shared Learning” LGA Event, Llandindod Wells, March 25, 2015

Integrated Skills Ltd were invited to present a paper at a special route optimisation “shared learning” event held by the Welsh LGA at Llandrindod Wells, March 25. Stuart Henshaw, ISL’s Director of Public Sector Solutions, focussed on how UK local authorities are deploying route optimisation solutions to various services as they drive down costs through operational efficiency gains.

The focus was on how Welsh authorities have realised savings using various route optimisation techniques and software packages as well as hearing how other authorities from Scotland, England and Northern Ireland have adopted RouteSmart for ArcGIS in their projects.

A number of Welsh local authorities attended the event with a primary focus on route optimisation for environmental services, especially waste and refuse collection, street cleansing and gully emptying.

Route optimisation for winter maintenance (salting/gritting) was also discussed.

The conversation covered not just software but also project management and data, the latter being one of the key aspects of any route optimisation project.
