In our latest case study we examine recent projects in Waste Composition Analysis and consider how valuable they can be.

We have conducted a number of WCAs over the years with Sarah Knapp as the project leader. In our experience, it has proved a successful approach to evaluating an authority’s or an organisation’s operation and where improvements can be made. View a recent masterclass Sarah presented here.

Covid-19 has brought a complete halt to all waste composition fieldwork. The main reasons are three fold and obvious: Defra’s advice not to touch any waste for at least 72 hours after collection, the dearth of appropriate PPE and the stay at home policy that makes representative sampling impossible. Time to reflect on recent projects and the versatility of waste composition as a useful tool.
