As part of an on-going contract, Integrated Skills has designed and implemented a successful training course on Solid Waste Management in Baku.

Three expert members of the Integrated Skills’ international team developed a training course for Tamiz Shahar, a recently formed waste management company. Established in 2009, Tamiz Shahar is a state owned joint stock company, which is responsible for the collection, transport and disposal of household waste.

The two day training course was managed by Mike Betts, Integrated Skills’ Director and head of the international consulting team. Day 1 of training focused on ‘Landfill design, operation & aftercare’. These sessions were delivered by our landfill expert Graham Cooper, whose expertise in waste management focuses on landfill related consultancy. The training included improving the participants’ understanding of proposals for the rehabilitation and extension of Balakhani landfill in Baku.

The second day of the course covered ‘Waste collection, transport & transfer’ and was delivered by Nick Crick, Integrated Skills’ Chairman. Nick has many years’ experience in training and capacity building in the waste sector and provided engaging and interactive training sessions.

The training days were well received and feedback from Tamiz Shahar staff was positive. The staff will use the skills and knowledge gained from the training during the course of their work.
