Stuart Henshaw qualified as a Landscape Architect and has since developed a career within local government managing waste and environmental services. He is a Chartered Waste Manager and has 15 years day-to-day management experience of local authority waste management, streetscene, grounds maintenance, countryside management, public conveniences and contaminated land services. He has a good understanding of local authority working. After five years of managing these services at Selby District Council he moved into consultancy where he has specialised in public sector work. His work at Selby included:

• Developing the strategic direction for all services
• Carrying out Best Value reviews for services, and the development of strategies, business and action planning for the development of services
• Budgetary responsibility for £3.2M per annum
• Brokering partnership working arrangements and represented seven collection authorities within the York & North Yorkshire Waste Partnership
• Preparation of tender documentation for refuse and street cleansing and grounds maintenance OJEU contracts
