Brian Makepeace, HNC, MCIWM, MCIEH – Associate
>Brian Makepeace has an extensive range of professional qualifications in wastes management and environmental health, and holds Certificates of Professional Competence in Road Transport Operations and Certificates of Technical Competence in managing landfill sites, waste transfer stations and Civic Amenity (CA) sites. He has over 30 years senior-level experience in environmental protection and wastes management, gained in both the public and private sectors.
In recent years, Brian has been closely involved in a wide variety of consultancy projects in the UK and overseas related to contaminated land remediation, hazardous waste management and privatisation of waste management services. Prior to becoming a consultant, he held a succession of senior positions with local authorities where he was responsible for both managing and regulating a wide range of environmental infrastructure and services.
Projects recently undertaken include:
- Preparation of a national waste management strategy for the Government of Malaysia.
- Input to the development of a hazardous waste management strategy for Azerbaijan.
- A composting feasibility study for Mauritius.
- The rehabilitation of several former landfill sites in the UK.
- Provision of advice on the privatisation of waste management services in Malaysia.
- Development and implementation of a hazardous waste management strategy for the island of St Helena.
- Development and implementation of a waste management strategy for Ascension Island
- Solid Waste Management Advisor to the Coalition Provisional Authority, based in Basra, Southern Iraq.
