Robert Holmes, BSc, PhD, C Geol, MCIWM, MIEMA – Associate Robert Holmes is a geologist / geochemist by background, with a variety of post-graduate qualifications in public health and environmental control, water resources engineering and management studies. He is also registered as a Principal Environmental Auditor with the Environmental Auditors Registration Association scheme of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). For the first 10 years of his career, Robert worked for one of the UK’s largest waste management contractors in a variety of technical roles eventually becoming Environmental Group Manager. In this role, he was responsible for leading a team of 5 staff charged with evaluating the environmental impact of the company’s active and restored landfill sites, incineration and waste treatment facilities, and for managing the company’s substantial research and development programme. In 1985, he embarked on a career as a consultant, working for a number of international environmental consulting firms. Robert’s expertise and experience encompasses a very wide range of skills, including environmental risk assessments, regulatory applications including IPC authorisations and waste management licences, the investigation, assessment and remediation of contaminated land, and the design and implementation of Environmental Management Systems.
