Stephen Baker joined ISL as Communications Director with a brief to expand and develop the Company's capabilities and services in environmental communications. With over 25 years' broad-ranging experience of commercial advertising and public relations, he has specialised in environmental communications during the past 10 years, acquiring extensive expertise in planning and managing public relations and communications in the wastes management and water / wastewater sectors both in the UK and overseas.

During this period, he has been responsible for advising public and private sector clients on the communications aspects of a variety of complex and often contentious environmental issues and developments. Previous clients include Hereford and Worcester Council, the Borough of Colchester, Lombard Finance, Grampian Regional Council, Southern Water, South West Water, the Government of Malta and the European Commission.

He has recently advised on the public communications and awareness aspects of a project to develop a hazardous waste management system in Azerbaijan, and the preparation of a national communications plan and a public awareness programme to support the introduction of private sector participation within the overall restructuring of the Urban Water Sector for the Government of Ghana.
