Matthew Polson has both civil and environmental engineering qualifications gained in France, the UK and USA. He also has project management qualifications and is a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner. He is fluent in French.

He has developed a substantial business for ISL on Guernsey, as well as working in other countries, and has now established ISL’s own Guernsey-based subsidiary company, of which he is the managing director. This company has not only provided general environmental advice but has developed services in structural engineering and the design and implementation of IT software for environmental management and traffic related applications.

Recent projects include:

• Study on the Economic Benefits of Waste Minimisation in the Food Sector, for FareShare with funding from Evolve Environment Body (UK).
• Acquisition of Campbell & Bloese partnership and formation and development of Campbell & Bloese Ltd, a structural and general civil engineering consultancy that provides services to both the public and private sectors.
• European Investment Bank (EIB) funded study “Covering of Agricultural Drains in Residential Areas in Egypt: study of the Effects, Design Improvements and Alternatives”. The project also focused on provision of affordable systems for solid and liquid waste management in order to protect the agricultural drains.
• Development of a waste management strategy for Ascension Island.
• Updating of the Solid Waste Master Plan for the Seychelles.
• The specification, design, development and implementation of software for co-ordination of all applications for road closures and/or excavations, using workflow, GIS and database software, for the States Traffic Committee, States of Guernsey.
• Development of guidelines and standards for the management of hazardous waste in Azerbaijan.

His country working experience includes: - Ascension Island, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, France, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Malta, Seychelles, Turkey, UK, USA.
